A Woodpigeon enjoying the sun, high up in a tree. recognisable by white and blue-green patches on the neck, as well as a slight pink colour on the front. Woodpigeons also have yellow eyes and a five syllable cooing sound, which is stressed on the second syllable.

A Collared Dove taken in my garden. Smaller than the woodpigeon and paler in colour, and with a distinct black collar around the neck and dark eyes, this bird has a 3-syllable cooing sound, stressed on the second (middle) syllable.

Stock Dove at Blackford pond. Easily recognisable by its dark eye and blue-green patch on the neck.

Feral pigeon by the pond at Craiglockhart Hill, Edinburgh. Easily recognisable by the shimmering blue-green and purple on the neck, and orange/red eye along with a stuttering coo sound.
